The Linguaskill Reading and Listening module is adaptive: questions become easier or more difficult depending on an individual’s previous answer. Administer the test onsite using just a computer, internet connection, a microphone and a set of headphones. No specialist software or equipment is needed (
check technical requirements).
Linguaskill has four parts:

  | Reading and listening: 60-85 minutes (7 parts)
The Reading and Listening module is adaptive, so there is not a fixed number of questions. Each question the candidate answers helps the computer to understand their level better. The test finishes when the candidate has answered enough questions for Linguaskill to identify their level accurately. Results for the Reading and Listening module are provided immediately.

Candidates read a notice, diagram, label, memo or letter containing a short text and choose the sentence or phrase that most closely matches the meaning of the text. There are three possible answers. -
Gapped sentences
Candidates read a sentence with a missing word (gap) and choose the correct word to fill the gap. There are four choices for each gap. -
Multiple-choice gap-fill
Candidates choose the right word or phrase to fill the gaps in a text. There are four choices for each gap. -
Open gap-fill
Candidates read a short text in which there are some missing words (gaps) and write in the missing word in each gap. -
Extended reading
Candidates read a longer text and answer a series of multiple-choice questions. The questions are in the same order as the information in the text.

Candidates listen to a short audio recording and answer a multiple-choice question with three options. -

Candidates listen to a longer recording and answer a series of multiple-choice questions based on it. The questions are in the same order as the information they hear in the recording.

The Writing module asks candidates to input answers using a computer keyboard. Answers are marked automatically by the computer. Results will be available within 12 hours.

| The candidate will will be asked to write a minimum of 50 words.
Marks: One half of the final Writing result.
Types of questions: Candidates read a short prompt, usually an email. They use the information in the prompt and the three bullet points to write an email of at least 50 words. Candidates should spend about 15 minutes on this.
| Part 2 Long text: | The candidate will be asked to write a minimum of 180 words.
Marks: One half of the final Writing result.
Types of questions: Candidates read a short text outlining a scenario and respond using the information in the scenario and the three bullet points. Candidates will write a letter or a report of at least 180 words. Candidates should spend about 30 minutes on this.

 | Speaking: 15 minutes (5 parts)
The Speaking module is taken using a computer with a microphone and headphones. Questions are presented to the candidate through the computer screen and headphones, and their responses are recorded and assessed by examiners. Results will be available within 48 hours.

Linguaskill resultsResults for Linguaskill are provided instantly for Reading and Listening, and within 48 hours for all skills. With a computer-generated Test Report Form, there is no waiting for printed certificates or other documents.
New feature: Institutions who administer Linguaskill now have the option to allow candidates to view their results online. This means that candidates do not need to wait to be sent their Test Report Forms. Institutions have the choice whether or not to make this feature available to candidates. |
 | Linguaskill assesses English language ability from below A1 to C1 or above on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Test results also show Cambridge English Scale scores.You'll see a Cambridge English Scale score and CEFR Level for each skill tested so you can see where test takers have performed well, and where they can improve.

The Cambridge English Scale is a range of scores used for reporting the results of Cambridge English exams. It allows you to quickly understand what your candidates' level of English is.
The
CEFR is the international benchmark for describing language ability. This means you can compare Linguaskill results to international standards.

Linguaskill results report format


| Linguaskill results are presented in a clear and easy-to-understand Test Report Form.
The form will show you:
- your candidates' Cambridge English Scale score for each skill tested
- an overall Cambridge English Scale score, which is an average of the individual scores
- your candidates' CEFR level for each skill tested
- an overall CEFR score
- an explanation of what each score means in terms of English language ability.

Linguaskill Results ServiceLinguaskill Results Service allows an institute or an employer to validate the authenticity of the Linguaskill Test Report Form (TRF). By filling in details from the TRF, you can verify if the TRF report is valid or invalid.
How to access the Linguaskill Results Service Go to the Linguaskill Results Service portal and click on Verify a result or Sign in. You will then be prompted to register an account or login if you have already registered. Once you have registered you can then login using your email address and password.
