MEDIDAS PREVENTIVAS - COVID-19
Exams Catalunya implementará todas las medidas disponibles para garantizar la salud y seguridad de los candidatos en cumplimiento de las recomendaciones de las autoridades. Estas medidas incluyen:

	Distancia social Se restringirá el número de candidatos por aula a fin de asegurar que se mantienen en todo momento los requisitos de distancia entre candidatos y entre estos y el personal de examen / examinadores. Se controlará la entrada y salida de las salas de examen de forma que se mantenga la distancia social. Se recordará en todo momento a los candidatos la necesidad de mantener la distancia social durante los descansos.
	Candidatos con síntomas Se pedirá a aquellos candidatos que presenten posibles síntomas de infección por Covid-19 que mantengan su aislamiento y no asistan a la sesión de examen. El centro acordará con cada uno de estos candidatos su traslado a una sesión futura.
	Medidas preventivas Se requerirá a TODOS los candidatos el uso de mascarilla durante la duración del examen. El centro dispondrá de mascarillas a la venta para aquellos candidatos que no dispongan de una propia. Se proporcionara desinfectante hidro-alcohólico de manos en todas las sedes de examen. Se poporcionará a los candidatos toallitas hidro-alcohólicas para limpiar el teclado de su ordenador antes de usarlo.
	Auriculares El centro garantizará una completa desinfección entre sesiones de los auriculares proporcionados por el centro. Los candidatos de las sesiones Computer-Based dispondrán de la opción de traer al examen sus propios auriculares*.

COVID-19: Impact on Certificate Despatch

The Cambridge Assessment English response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been to provide greater flexibility to its exam centres in delivering exam sessions. This increased flexibility, along with the continued impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, has unfortunately resulted in delays with the processing of results for some exams. This in turn has caused delays to the printing and despatch of certificates.

Cambridge English has asked us to inform our candidates and Preparation Centres of the result window date changes as well as the new despatch certificate dates.

Exams Madrid and Cambridge English would like to apologise for these delays and thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.

More PPP please! Putting pronunciation into practice

Pronunciation is an area of teaching which can often be neglected. Despite this, students regularly insist that they want and need to do pronunciation practice in class. In this session, we’ll be looking at a range of activities to focus on different aspects of pronunciation: individual sounds, word & sentences stress, connected speech sounds, and we’ll be focusing on how to incorporate these regularly into lessons. Some of the activities will have a young learner focus, whereas others will be more suitable for teens and upwards.

	Joanna is a teacher and teacher trainer who has been living and working in Catalunya for 20 years. She is a teacher and co-ordinator for young learner courses, and teaches on CELTA courses in the summer. She enjoys playing games in class, and pronunciation activities are a great place to start!

In 2018 Exams Catalunya has been awarded by the Occupational English Test (OET) for receiving the highest Net Promoter Score (NPS) of all the test venues in the EU, UK and Ireland.

This award is based on the survey from the OET candidates each month after the test in wich they are asked to rate their experience on exam day using a range of values, from how comfortable the seating was to the clarity of the sound recording in the listening test.

Paso 2 Cumplimentar el formulario de inscripción para colegios y academias

Una vez escogida la fecha del examen, para matricular a vuestros alumnos en los exámenes Cambridge English tan solo es necesario cumplimentar el formulario de inscripción y enviárnoslo a la dirección de correo electrónico [email protected]. Una vez recibido en nuestro centro el formulario de inscripción y el comprobante del pago contactaremos con vosotros confirmando la inscripción.

Paso 3 Pago de las tasas

El pago de las tasas de examen debe realizarse dentro del periodo de inscripción. En el caso de los alumnos inscritos una vez transcurrido el mencionado periodo se aplicará un recargo de 40 Euros.

Inscripción de alumnos en las sesiones de examen

Inscriure als vostres estudiants en un examen Cambridge English és molt senzill. Des del nou portal Exams Catalunya Online els Centres Preparadors registrats amb Exams Catalunya poden administrar d'una forma fàcil i segura les inscripcions dels seus estudiants en les diferents sessions d'examen, controlant en tot moment la situació dels candidats i interactuant de forma directa amb el centre. N'hi ha prou amb identificar-se en el portal per a accedir a la zona privada de gestió de candidats.

Si encara no es disposa d'accés al portal Exams Catalunya Online però es desitja incriure candidats en les sessions organitzades pel nostre centre és possible donar-se d'alta des del vincle https://centres.exams-catalunya.com/sign-in/register.

Si un Centre Preparador no disposa d'accés al portal també pot inscriure candidats de forma manual en tres simples passos:

How to organise a Linguaskill session

You can hold a Linguaskill test session at your organisation or at our centre on the date of your choice as long as you have a minimum of 10 candidates. If you do not have enough candidates they can still take the exam at one of our Linguaskill open sessions.

Organising a Linguaskill session is easy and all you need to do is follow the 4 steps below:

1. Choose a date for your Linguaskill session. Linguaskill tests are on-demand and you can choose the date that best suits your organisation’s needs.

2. Contact our centre. Call us on 934 111 333 or send an email to [email protected] with your proposed exam date. Please note that dates must be reserved no less than 3 weeks in advance.

3. Register your candidates. Once we have confirmed your exam date please complete the registration form and send it to us by email to [email protected]. You must send the completed form to us and make payment no less than 3 weeks before the date of your Linguaskill session.

4. We will send you confirmation and an invoice. You will receive all the exam information, instructions and timetables in advance of your Linguaskill session.

	Reliable and easy to administer The online test can be easily administered and invigilated at your own venue, at a time that suits you. All you need is a computer, internet connection, a microphone and headphones. You can test the English level of individuals or groups of candidates.

Reading and Use of English: 1 hour 30 minutes
The C2 Proficiency Reading and Use of English paper has 7 parts and 53 questions and has a mix of text types and questions. This paper accounts for 40% of the total mark.

Type of questions – Reading tasks: Part 1: Multiple-choice cloze A single text with eight gaps. Candidates must choose one word or phrase from a set of four to fill each gap. Part 2: Open cloze A modified cloze test consisting of a text with eight gaps. Candidates think of the word which best fits each gap. Part 3: Word formation A text containing eight gaps. Each gap corresponds to a word. The stems of the missing words are given beside the text and must be changed to form the missing word. Part 4: Key word transformations Six discrete items with a lead-in sentence and a gapped response to complete in 3–8 words including a given ‘key’ word. Part 5: Multiple choice A long text followed by some multiple-choice questions, each with four options (A, B, C or D). Part 6: Gapped text A text from which paragraphs have been removed and placed in jumbled order after the text. Candidates must decide from where in the text the paragraphs have been removed. Part 7: Multiple matching A text, or several short texts, preceded by multiple-matching questions. Candidates must match a prompt to elements in the text.

Writing: 1 hour 30 minutes
The C2 Proficiency Writing paper has two parts. Candidates have to show that they can write different types of text in English. In Part 1 there is one compulsory question and in Part 2 candidates answer one question from a choice of three. This paper accounts for 20% of the total mark.

Type of questions – Writing tasks: Part 1: Compulsory question Some material to read (two texts, each approximately 100 words). Using the information in this material, you have to write an essay. Part 2: One question from a choice of four A choice of four questions (2–5). For Questions 2–4, you may have to write an article, a letter, a report or a review.

C2 Proficiency set texts January 2020 - December 2021

One or both of the following texts may be read as preparation for the two optional set text tasks:
1. Nick Hornby: About a boy (any edition); Teachers may choose to prepare candidates for questions on this set text by studying the film directed by Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz (2002) as well as, or instead of, the novel.
2. Dodie Smith: I Capture the Castle (any edition); Teachers may choose to prepare candidates for questions on this set text by studying the film directed by Tim Fywell (2000) as well as, or instead of, the novel.

Candidates should not attempt the optional set text question in Part 2 unless they have the necessary understanding of the text to answer the task set.
Teachers are best placed to judge which, if any, of the set texts and/or film version may be appropriate and stimulating for a given teaching situation.

Listening: About 40 minutes
The C2 Proficiency Listening paper has four parts. For each part you have to listen to a recorded text or texts and answer some questions. You hear each recording twice.This paper accounts for 20% of the total mark.

Type of tasks: Part 1: Multiple choice Three short, unrelated recordings lasting approximately 1 minute each. You have to listen to the recordings and answer two multiple-choice questions for each recording. Each question has three options (A, B or C). Part 2: Sentence completion A monologue or prompted monologue lasting 3–4 minutes. The questions are a series of incomplete sentences. You have to listen to the recording and identify the information you need (one to three words) to fill each gap. Part 3: Multiple choice A recording with interacting speakers lasting 3–4 minutes. You have to listen to the recording and answer a series of multiple-choice questions, each with four options (A, B, C or D). Part 4: Multiple matching Five short, themed monologues, of approximately 35 seconds each. There are two multiple-matching tasks. Each multiple-matching task requires the selection of the five correct options from a list of eight.

Speaking: 16 minutes per pair of candidates
The C2 Proficiency Speaking shows how good your spoken English is as you take part in conversation by asking/answering questions and talking, for example, about your likes and dislikes. The test has three parts and will be conducted face-to-face with one or two other candidates. This makes your test more realistic and more reliable. There are two examiners. One examiner (the interlocutor) talks to you and the other examiner (the assessor) just listens. Both examiners decide your grade but the assessor gives more detailed marks than the interlocutor. The Speaking test accounts for 20% of the total mark.

Part 1: Interview
Conversation between the interlocutor and each candidate. The examiner asks each of you a series of questions, addressing a question to each of you in turn, to give you an opportunity to talk about yourselves.
Part 2: Collaborative task
The interlocutor gives you some spoken instructions and one or more pictures to look at. First, you have to answer a question which focuses on your reaction to aspects of one or more pictures (1 minute). The second part is a decision-making task which you have to do with the other candidate.
Part 3: Long turn and discussion
The interlocutor gives you a card with a question and some ideas on it and you have to speak for about 2 minutes on your own. After you finish, your partner has to comment and the interlocutor then asks you both a question on the same topic. The interlocutor follows the same procedure with your partner and then leads a discussion with both of you.

Choosing your Speaking Test partner

If you would like to be paired together with a friend/classmate you can request this when you register for the exam. Please note however that research has shown that there are both advantages and disadvantages in taking the test with someone you know and that in the end it doesn’t matter. What is important is that the test judges you on your own performance.

Groups of three candidates

Almost all the C1 Advanced Speaking Tests es realitzen en grups de dos candidats. No obstant això, en les sessions amb un nombre imparell de candidats hi haurà un test amb un grup de tres candidats, normalment al final del dia o just abans d'un descans llarg. El format del test és exactament el mateix però té una durada lleugerament superior. Si us plau, tingueu en compte que no pot sol•licitar-se realitzar el test en un grup de tres candidats.

Here are some tips so you know what to expect on the day of your test.

Before the test

Make sure you know the date and time slot of your exam. If you have any questions you should contact our centre before the day of your test.

Make sure your computer has a webcam, your headset and microphone are connected and that the system is working correctly.

You must make arrangements for a quiet and undisturbed space for the entirety of the exam session (3 hours).

What do I need?

Remember to have your identification document with you, e.g., your DNI or passaport. An Id. check will be carried out before you take the exam and you will have to display your Id. document in front of the camera.

The day of the test

You will have to clearly show your ID to the camera

You will be required to complete a 360º webcam scan of the room and desk where you will take the exam.

	The environment: Your test environment must comply with the following requirements. You must sit at a clean desk or table. The desk or walls around you must not have any writing (posters, signs). No other person is allowed to enter the room while the exam is in session. The lighting in the room must be bright enough to be considered “daylight” quality. The source of light must not be behind you. The room must be as quiet as possible. The following items must not be on the desk or used during the proctored exam: books, paper, pens, textbooks, notebooks, phones, tablets.
	The computer: The computer used for the exam must not have more than one display or screen. All other programs or windows must be closed before starting the exam Only the exam window is allowed – all other programmes such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Skype, any other website pages must be closed.
	*During the test:* You must dress as in a public setting and avoid hats and headgear (except hijabs). Except for the Listening Test, you must not use headphones, ear buds, or any other type of listening equipment.. You must not communicate with any other person by any means. You must not use a phone for any reason. You must not leave the room during the exam for any reason.

After the test

Test results will be issued 48 hours after the test date, 72 hours over the weekend.
