Abstract
   
Are you a teacher working with teens? Are you looking for some fresh ideas for your online classes? Then this webinar is for you! We will show tried-and-tested communicative activities that can help keep your teens engaged and motivated. We will demonstrate how task-based and project-based approaches can be applied online and share tools and best practices. Although the session is aimed at teaching teens online, the ideas and activities can be easily adapted for adults and face-to-face classes.

Anna Neil is an ELT teacher and CELTA teacher trainer based in Brighton. She specialises in educational technology and has developed a vocabulary revision app explayn.co.uk. Anna has taught a wide range of classes both face-to-face and online and her teaching style works particularly well with young learners. She also delivers training sessions for other teachers and regularly presents at ELT conferences such as IATEFL and others.

Anita Derecskei is an ELT teacher, CELTA trainer and Cambridge speaking examiner based in Barcelona. She trains novice and experienced teachers and is especially interested in learner autonomy and the use of technology. She has worked as a teacher in various contexts (general English, business English, teenagers, kids, ESP, EAP) in Hungary, the UK and Spain. She enjoys creating training course for teachers and creating engaging materials. She is a proud member of Cooperativa de Servéis Lingüítics de Barcelona and a regular presenter at various conferences.

Abstract
   
Working with communicative projects entails designing units that cater to all of the learners’ needs in the classroom, be it at a linguistic level, at a cognitive level (ability and capacity of the learners to intake content and language), and at a social level. This webinar is designed to help teachers start the process in the creation of projects in a foreign language and in the students' first language. We will look at the first steps, essential elements, and other instructional procedures that are involved in the creation of projects, as well as look at real examples from students at different stages in the learning of a foreign language.

Lola Reeves Garay Abad is a teacher, a teacher trainer and a specialist in SLA, SLDs and CLIL. She has worked in education for the last 17 years. She has managed academic programs, published classroom material and created and delivered teaching development programs, conferences and workshops for educators in mainstream education and language teaching in Spain, Portugal, the UK, the US and Latin America, among others. She works in public and private education teaching Science, English and other subjects in Primary and Secondary. She is also involved in research, and works as an educational consultant and mentor in various public and private schools across the country.

Tom Wogan moved to Spain in 1993 and has remained here since. He currently works as both a Cambridge English consultant for Catalonia and as a teacher for the EIM (Escola d’Idiomes Moderns) at the UB, specialising in exam preparation courses. Before working for Cambridge Tom worked for a major publisher as a commercial representative and as a teacher trainer. His expertise and knowledge of both teaching and of the Cambridge English system is invaluable and he will be sharing his insight with us at this session.

He is passionate about trying to bridge the fictitious gap between "real" English and "exam" English. Having worked as an examiner for Exams Catalunya for 5 years, and all his experience in English language teaching, he is now an exams expert.

Laura Darby is an ELT teacher based in Barcelona. Apart from preparing students for Cambridge exams, Laura directs and teaches in the extra-school program in the Collserola Foundation Primary schools and she works with Exams Catalunya as a seminar presenter and Speaking Examiner Team Leader. Her focus lately has been aimed at motivating young learners and teens. Her love of both learning and teaching languages motivated her to complete an MA in Translation Studies and she takes special interest in how Catalan speakers learn English.
